Oyster Beach House Activites Oyster Beach House is on a quiet inlet approximately 20 minutes from the state capital. In addition to Olympia and its fine dining establishments, major metropolitan areas including Tacoma, Seattle and Portland, Oregon. Each of these cities have numerous attractions and make wonderful day trips. In addition to the major metropolitan areas, you may wish to visit Mt. Rainier and Mt. St. Helens. Oyster Beach House is equidistant from both of these beautiful monuments. As with the major metropolitan areas, we recommend you allocate a full day for trips to either of these scenic locations. Locally, fishing, crabbing and shrimping (in-season) are highly recommended. We are also happy to assist you with digging clams or gathering oyster for a fabulous dining experience. Sea run cutthroat fishing is available year-round, coho and chum salmon fishing are available from mid-September through late October. We highly recommend kayaking or canoeing in our bay as this also provides you with an opportunity to see and experience our beautiful wildlife. At present we have one double kayak and one single kayak on our bulkhead to use at your discretion for exploration of our bay and the mussel rafts. The latter serve as a haul-out for the numerous harbor seals that frequent the area during salmon runs and provides an excellent opportunity for wildlife photography. Our mooring buoy is available should you have friends that wish to visit by boat or should you wish to bring your own boat for exploration. Our walk-through bulkhead has multiple tie-ups and provides a convenient location for storing and launching a dinghy. Water tours of the area with our boat may also be arranged.
